TERRA NOVA AUTOMOTIVE GROUP EXPANDS WITH ACQUISITION OF MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN GANDER

July 03 2026,

St. John's, NL — Terra Nova Automotive Group is proud to announce the acquisition of Airport Mazda in Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, effective June 30, 2026. The dealership will now operate as Terra Nova Mazda, marking another important milestone as Terra Nova Automotive Group continues to expand across Newfoundland and Labrador.

The acquisition follows Terra Nova Automotive Group's expansion into Central Newfoundland in late 2025 with the addition of Terra Nova Chevrolet Buick GMC in Grand Falls-Windsor. Together with its flagship dealership, Terra Nova GMC Buick in St. John's, the addition of this Mazda dealership strengthens the group's presence in the province while expanding its portfolio to include another respected automotive brand.

"Our growth has always been about people first," said Alexia Russell Feltham, Dealer Principal and President of Terra Nova Automotive Group. "We're honoured to welcome the employees and loyal customers of Airport Mazda into the Terra Nova family. The team has built an incredible reputation for customer care, and our goal is to preserve the values and customer experience that have made this dealership while investing in its future."

Airport Mazda traces its roots to the Penney family, with Michelle Penney helping establish the business in 1985 before it became Airport Mazda in 1992. As one of Canada's first female Mazda dealer principals, Michelle helped pave the way for future female leadership in the automotive industry. Nearly 35 years later, Penney passes the role to Alexia Russell Feltham, making this a rare transition from one female dealer principal to another.

"It has been an incredible privilege to serve our customers alongside such an outstanding team for so many years," said Michelle Penney. "The welcoming atmosphere we've created has always been because of our employees, who have given so much to our customers and our dealership. As I looked toward retirement, it became important to find someone who shared our values. I couldn't be happier that Alexia and the Terra Nova team will build on everything that we’ve worked so hard to create. I know our customers and employees are in wonderful hands."

To support the dealership's next chapter, Spencer Rayner joins Terra Nova Mazda as General Manager, bringing experience and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. Working alongside the existing team, he will help guide the dealership through a seamless transition while ensuring customers continue to receive the exceptional service they know and trust.

Built on more than 90 years of family leadership in Newfoundland and Labrador's automotive industry, Terra Nova Automotive Group continues to grow through a commitment to integrity, community, and long-term relationships. Today, the group proudly represents GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, and Mazda, serving customers across the province from its dealerships in St. John’s, Grand Falls-Windsor, and Gander, as well as through CARSTAR Collision St. John’s, CARSTAR Collision Bay Roberts, Custom Automotive, and Centsible Car and Truck Rentals.

“This new chapter marks another exciting chapter in the evolution of Terra Nova Automotive Group and reflects our confidence in the future of the automotive industry in Newfoundland and Labrador”, said Russell Feltham. “We're proud to welcome the Mazda brand into our portfolio, build on the strong reputation Airport Mazda has earned over the years, and expand our ability to serve customers and communities across the province for generations to come."

Terra Nova Automotive Group would like to thank all customers as the dealership integrates Airport Mazda into the Terra Nova family, ensuring a seamless experience at both locations, with the same high level of service and community connection they have always expected.
